The lives they had were shackled with a sickness,
and bearing witness, the old place shut its eyes.

It didn't matter whether dawn was coming,
and no one asked just why she was late.
They filed with their flowers through the graveyard,
and with a tremor, lay a black wreath on her grave.

dying in her grief,
